Acrylic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H4O2. It is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor and is miscible with water. It can also be miscible with ethanol and ether. It has active chemical properties and is easy to polymerize in air. It can be reduced to propionic acid by hydrogenation, and then added with hydrogen chloride to form 2-chloropropionic acid. It is mainly used for preparing acrylic resin. Pure acrylic polymer lotion can be made into acrylic waterproof coating. Acrylic fiber is a type of fiber similar to wool, used in clothing, carpets, and industrial products such as brake pads and dust filtration devices. Polyacrylic acid fibers have high water absorption properties, which can absorb liquids exceeding 25 times their own weight. However, these fibers are prone to brittleness and are easily damaged during processing. Usually, a supporting fiber is used to form a yarn combination in the form of a blend of two fibers, increasing strength, and weaving advanced sportswear fabrics.
